Upcoming Events: Reminders: March 20 thru 23                                      Camp Kappe 5th Grade Students March 26 thru 30                                      Mad Hatter Service Project March 30                                                   SPA Night at Joe’s Crab Shack April 3                                                        Science Fair (Grades Kinder – 5th ) April 5                                                        Early Dismissal 12:30 p.m.  Spirit Day  Teacher/Staff Luncheon (Hosted by Kindergarten)   April 12                                         PTO Meeting, 6:00 p.m.     Dear St. Peter the Apostle School families,    The Archdiocese is delighted to announce a transformational gift of $5 million from the Kinder Foundation to the Catholic Schools Cooperative, which includes St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School.   Recognizing that Catholic schools in the Inner City have been and continue to be the best hope for children of our urban areas, the Kinder Foundation has pledged this generous gift to the five schools in our first cooperative: Resurrection School, St. Augustine School, St. Francis of Assisi School, St. Peter the Apostle School and St. Pius V School.   The gift by the Kinder Foundation provides the Cooperative with the financial support that will allow them to determine the effectiveness and success of this new innovative approach on a much faster timeline than originally planned and lead to an expansion of this model to all Inner City schools. The Foundation’s gift will support: instruction and technology; teacher pay; professional development; tuition assistance; and improvement at our Cooperative facilities, some of which are more than 50 years old.   We are hopeful that this contribution will inspire others to support our Catholic schools through the recently established Cardinal’s Circle and other channels. The need of each of our Inner City schools is great. The Kinder Foundation’s very generous gift does not supplant the ongoing funding required to continue to provide thousands of students an exemplary education and a strong foundation in Gospel values. We continue to need the full, participative support of all our parents, teachers and students.   Our Inner City Schools have succeeded not only developing your child’s intellectual talents, but instilling in them a sense of service and a call to be responsible citizens. New for the 2011 - 2012 School Year: Super School Reading Initiative: PreK - 2nd Grade     © Rowland Reading Foundation What is a Super School? A Super School implements the Superkids Reading Program in all classrooms from pre-K through second grade. Superkids, developed by the Rowland Reading Foundation, is a phonics-based reading and language arts program that teachers and students love. Super Teacher Training A Super School participates in Super Teacher Training, professional development provided by the Foundation's reading experts.  In addition to the in-service training, all teachers receive, the Foundation provides FREE coaching and support throughout the year.

        St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School is a Kindergarten through 8th grade parochial school within the Arch Diocese of Galveston-Houston. The faculty and staff strive to provide a child-centered environment to address the uniqueness of each child.  The school's goal is to help each student to develop a commitment to life-long learning (mind), Christian values (heart) and to embrace with enthusiasm service to the community (spirit).
